Common misunderstandings

Fathers tend to believe that Mother's rights are superior to their own.  This is simply not true.  Father's have the same and equal rights as Mothers under the US Constitution.

Some commercials make you think that you will win $100,000's of dollars for an auto accident.  Usually, most of this money is for medical expenses and future medical expenses.

Some people misunderstand that 50/50 physical custody will make child support go away.  This is flat-out wrong.  Child support can still be ordered with a 50/50 custody arrangement.

It is commonly misunderstood that a parent can simply "give away" their parental rights in order to avoid child support.  But, the only ways that can occur is through State intervention and removal of rights or through adoption by a new husband or wife, not a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Judges will divide the marital estate equitably.  Extra-marital affairs do not automatically give one spouse superior financial claims over the other.  Generally, all property and debts gained during the marriage are marital assets and debts.
